Chesterman's Beach, approximately 3 kilometers of white sand and scattered
rock outcroppings, from the North West end by the Wickanninish Inn to
the South East where it terminates in a rocky shoreline penetrated with
massive crevasses and caves. About mid point the beach swings off in
a spit to the South and at low tide joins up with Frank Island. During
severe winter storms the ocean pounds on the island with such severity
the waves actually crash over the rock formation at the center point
creating two islands.
As you explore with your friends and loved ones, discouver the
soothing effect of this expansive beach with numerous tide pools among
the rock formations and driftwood piled along the high water mark .
Time seems of little essence as you delve into sand castle building
or flying a kite, running, jogging or just strolling with the waves
rolling in along side. Watch the surfers or try it yourself. Photograph
the incredible sunsets or catch that special moment as the sun breaks
through during a winter storm. As the evening approaches, light a fire
and roast a few marshmallows.
